OHCC currently owns three powerboats that are used to support our club’s mandate of promoting fun and safe dinghy sailing in the Outer Harbour. In order to operate any of the boats in the Outer Harbour, you must have a Pleasure Craft Operator’s Card and a Powered Vessel Operator’s Permit (see links).

The boat shed is located East of our docks in front of the East marine railway. As you enter the shed, on your left, is the light switch and below, the switch for turning on or off the machinery for operating the machine railways. Race management items, when not left on the Committee boat during the racing season, are normally kept in this shed, as well as other items:

  • Committee and Patrol Boat keys

  • Signboard frame for races

  • Signal flags and red, white and blue race indicators

  • 3 marker anchors, with chains and 50-metre nylon lines for each

  • perma-charger and extension cords for “trickle-charging” the boat batteries

  • spare life jackets

  • tools

On the West side of the storage shed is a wooden storage box containing gas tanks and adapters. These tanks and adapters are interchangeable on either boat.

Further information about the safe operation of our boats is coming…
